Desire

I want! is it too late to wish?
to paint my street crossings
for all woes to vanquish?

to create my own flag with crest so bold
to bark at a moon, even as I grow old

a need, so wild, that it grows at first rain
can you still hear tears when you cant feel the pain?

Desire stems from gifts never granted
wishes and dreams from seeds never planted

But a fool am I, for wanting these things
I have blessings in hand,
Why can I not sing?

Have I lost my own voice?
or just lost Desire?
At what age are we reborn
simply to retire?

Awaiting a servant, to bring angels their food
I am their butler,a poor man unshod
Although valued to G*d, I'm unworthy of praise
Just a man, reaching out, with arm upraised

No one can see him, a blend in the crowd
Romeo days gone, but his heart is still proud
No woman nor man, can erase from his till
Desire and dreams that may be left unfulfilled

Sometimes, wrong desires can cloud the blessings at hand. It is like clinging to a want of the past that can never be yours, a wanting of what was not meant to be, but in our own selfish way, we still want it just the same. Letting go is the only way to rebirth the right desires and let their fulfillment bring contentment of mind and heart. Got me waxing philosophically now...geez!

This is strong, introspective writing, you have some great lines in this and you've left me with much to ponder in regards to my own clouded wants and dreams.  An excellent emote, Jeff, this is your best.

Take care,
