In gray of winter dawn he stands
In closet, breathes the clothes she wore
The house, so emptied by her loss
He will not see her anymore

He hopes that he can catch a scent
Of this dear love that graced his life
Remember how in arms, she felt
How painful it to lose his wife

Within his sleep arms always reach
To find that she's no longer there
The bed does not contain her warmth
Her place beside him now is bare

So fitful has his sleep become
He roams the house each night 'til dawn
Pretends she's in another room
Though knows she is forever gone

He hardly eats and seldom shaves
The grief on him has taken toll
His eyes stay swollen from the tears
No longer feels he has a goal

On mantle rests a photograph
The two of them when newly wed
He gently touches her sweet face
Remembers lovely things she said

In bedroom is the brush she used
It still contains her auburn hair
So soft it felt against his skin
That she is gone seems so unfair

Just one more look within her eyes
A chance for both of them to talk
One more embrace, just one last kiss
Or hand in hand for them to walk

Once more the picture does he hold
As finally he falls asleep
So broken is this dear man's heart
That even in dreams does he weep

(big hugggssssss) Oh Michael, this is so very sad, sweet friend, while I am still growing up and a bit naive about relationships, I do understand how it must feel to miss someone you love so much and my heart goes out to all who experience this and hope they can all find true happiness to spare! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is a sensitive and caring write, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine uon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Michael

You have written the anguish of loss, with empathy and beauty of heart.

My Auguste friend,
this is indeed a story of loss, told in a most poetically eloquent verse as to make it stain the heart with sorrow for the pain it must take to create such a beautifully sad poem.
I truly enjoyed the poem, though I feel a sorrow for the loss of loved ones, so dear.
I look forward to reading more of your work, Auguste.
