At First, a Quiet Ripple

you entered my life
as a living drop of water
upon the stillness of
a mountain tarn.

You affected every part of me,
every niche of the heart of me,
bringing ripples that were unsettling
yet, enlivening

as only a daughter
of love’s flesh could do
