No, it's not that I'm opposed
to living happily
with a painted smile on my face
quite void of reality
but I see no sense to this plan
of yours that I endure
you know the one where I'm a bitch
and of your innocence we're sure.

That can't work into forever
not with me all light and gay
it's hard enough for me dear love
if even for a day
the past must stop it's hounding
it's pounding on my brain
you have to leave it lie for me
to find your love again.
