Old roses, once were red now almost black,
No water, dried by neglect then purpose,
Crystal vase, Waterford that fluid lack,
Lost meaning, flowers bought and not disposed,
Like Diamond, they were never taken back.

White Roses to replace the red
to lighten your heart from black instead.
Shall touch your hands, a gift in greet,
the gloom to arrest, when next we meet.

Never taken back
Kept forever
Beholders eyes
See red forever

oh my prince
of darkness
your petals
I did not neglect
please do not see
the dry
as uncaring
in reflect
I placed them
to my lips
and keep them
in my heart
where they mingle
with the thorns
blood watered dripped
to every part

While its true that all flowers die, some from neglect, new ones grow in their place, sometimes bigger and more fragrant.

Not born with a green thumb? Most of us aren't (but I am an expert at growing weeds! *L).

I enjoyed your poem, Prof.

When you think you have heard it all,
listen more closely.

Just placed there
a beauty to unfold
then they grew to full
then began to mold
a bit of dust was caught
a lesson left untaught
still, the dust motes
gold
still, the dust motes
gold

Thank you, Nakdthoughts,
What a wonderful poetic response,
These actually weren’t my roses, but a family friend’s
Who lost her fiancé in an accident.
Please my words inspired your words.

Thank you, Zinnser,
Kept memories of the physical, that no longer exists.

Thank you, 1slick_lady,
Prince of Darkness? Little ole’ me?
Don’t know if me with mere words can obtain such stature,
But I do like that thorny part.

Thank you, the_loner_23

Thank you, MFFF,
No green thumb here, and weeds are about all I can grow,
Even having difficulty with growing grass.

Thank you, Sunshine,
For your wonderful poetic response,

Thank you, Enchantress
Pleased you enjoyed.

Gloom
