Sea Thoughts

Close your  eyes
feel the soft velour
fabric of the sky

wind whipped with children's glee tunes
hushed into the crash of earth water

To walk in sand
is as elemental as the need to dig holes

smooth to shape

feel each grain blessed
then taken back into the play

Down into the bubbled belch of time
is where chimera begins and ends

The kiss of it perfumes old bones

blesses the skin with a thin veneer
of flux and flow      slow turn of moon

like menses of a woman her moods
can strip the skin and make man fragile
then turn his head until he knows

no skin could ever take him there
and leave him spent and heaving air

then
lay him down in pale curve of land ‘til hiss of sun
falling in    awakes the dark

Bravo!
I can only sit here with my mouth open Martie! Exceptional. I especially liked the sea portrayed as woman and as the power prevailing man...Awesome! ThisDiamond

Martie - just a wonderful poem - so full of images and feelings - I love the ocean and walking along the shore - this took me there - these lines were just incredible - I loved them!
like menses of a woman her moods
can strip the skin and make man fragile
then turn his head until he knows

no skin could ever take him there
and leave him spent and heaving air

then
lay him down in pale curve of land ‘til hiss of sun
falling in    awakes the dark
thanks for the great poem - Paul

How exceptionally unique. I admire how this invigorates and soothes like the ocean does...you made it feel emotional. Really nice read Martie!

Reg

If time wont change me, perhaps she can
And I feel her trying when were apart
God dont let me break her heart

I do love the images of this.  Hey....we need to do the east/west or west/east beach trade.  Water's real warm on this side. Now when I take a walk down to the shore, I will have these beautiful thoughts from you to enjoy as well.  Should add much to my visits.  Superb imagery and marvelous thoughts you bring us always in classic "Martienific" style.
