It is said that God created all things
With this I have no argument
My favorite two things in creation
Are the rose and the woman

I think God knew what he was doing
When the creation took place
Both the rose and the woman
Can put a smile on this old mans face

All roses are beautiful as is the woman
With one slight difference
A rose can be a thorn in the hand
The woman a thorn in the side

But now with the pun being said
Lets get down to the real similarities
Any one that knows me
Knows what a rose means to me

A rose is like a woman
Some are soft and kind
Easy to look at
Easy to love

Now a rose should be nurtured
Sweetly talked to and gently touched
Cherished and loved
For it was made by God above

To me a rose is like a rainbow
It is beautiful anytime it is seen
God gave us the rose to be
Held in the hands with love

The rose and the woman
To me are to be treated equally
For God took the time to create both
Should a person not take the time

To stop and smell the rose
And treat it with the respect due
So if someone sends you a rose
It could be they think the world of you

Alan, I recall several of your rose poems, and I think I can speak for many when I say, we have missed them!  Welcome home, and please, stick around like a thorn in our side awhile, okay?
