~Don't Let Our World End~

I wonder what will happen
when our world fills up with trash
the centuries of garbage
we have no where else to stash

we could put it in a rocket
and shoot it out to space
imagine all that stuff
orbiting in circled haste

from the outer reaches of space
it might resemble Saturn's rings
made of all our earthly
used and useless things

old greeting cards and newpapers
broken desks and chairs
unwanted stuff
about which anyone no longer cares

we could pile this garbage high
and build a ski resort
with snow on top
it might be fine for olympic sports

we could incinerate the stuff
and use it to make new energy
but the ashes would burn our eyes
and make our noses sneeze

poisoning the air on earth
so high and far and wide
we'd breath these noxious fumes
and wake up wondering why we died

we've made this mistake too often
many times before
our air is so polluted
we can't afford one more encore

so take all your stuff and use it once more
give some to life to that old eyesore
if it no longer fits, give it away
don't trash it, it just might make someone's day

old family heirlooms that don't fit your style
might perfectly suit a collector's wiles
recycle your stuff, use it again
with our future at stake, don't let the world end
~

We are one of the world largest consumers and trash producers and when the rest of the world catches up it will be a much bigger mess...recycling does help...James

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Lyra, this is wonderful, sweet friend, it saddens me to see much of the world polluted and I am a tree-hugger I must admit and I know if we recycle we can save so much more! (sigh) I encourage all others to follow your lead to a clean world, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Thanks so much, James...
I know you are right about us being the biggest producers and consumers of garbage.
It would be terrible if the rest of the world ever caught up....but I think most of the other countries have a lot stricter environmental policies than we do...and so they may never catch up.......hopefully!

Thanks so much, Noah...
Its nice to know that someone else admits to being a tree hugger.
Here in Kalamazoo, the city administration seems to be so business oriented that they think anyone who has any environmental sensitivities is anti business....and they use the term "tree hugger" in a derogatory sense.  I have been called an anti business tree hugger, many times.........
I have also been a royal pain to the people who run the city...in spite of the fact that my first husband was a city commissioner at one time.

Thanks so much Paul...
I am glad that you agree with me...
We are eating up all of our open green space and filling it up with polluting factories.
There are also more and more cars on the road every year...but, I guess that there are more and more people also.
Hopefully, this planet won't explode someday.
