"Bits and Pieces" Just as I’ve crawled from the rubble Of sorrow, despair and indebtedness That had been heaped upon me And made for myself a cozy nest Of work and walks and firewood And surrounded myself with music The reading and writing of words And preparing paintings Then not painting them I discovered the shards From past times, past lives The incarnations of me The bones and stones That portend my past And foretold my future Small bits of goofy child Potshards of petulant punk Artifacts from an almost artist An explorers’ incomplete journal Fragments of the husband/father I gather all of these bits and pieces Like so much broken crockery Sweep aside the ugliest Polish the prettiest And endeavor to arrange And arrange again These shattered tiles Into a mosaic that doesn’t quite, yet Resemble a complete human being ~wranx "Writing is a perfectly natural thing to do...provided it's done in private and you wash your hands afterward"....Heinlein. |

very poignant wranx a wistful look at aging and a sudden clarity of awareness you keep getting better BS. I never aimed at reality; I aimed at truth. --Orson Welles |

Small bits of goofy child Potshards of petulant punk Artifacts from an almost artist An explorers’ incomplete journal Fragments of the husband/father Oh what wonderful fragments to keep, Wranx... and what a beautiful way of expressing them. I think we all have those small bits of goofy child in us. I love the poem. ~ goofy child hugs Lyra |
