Leave the Future Be
By Larry Chadwick

I’ve learned you can’t see from here to there,
And I thank God for that and say so in a prayer.
For if, like Him, I see the future right from here today,
I’d be overwhelmed and filled with absolute dismay.

It’s not that I can’t cope with the things that happen to me,
I have my hands completely full without what is to be.
Instead I’ll be content to leave the future up to the Divine,
For like the saying goes, “I’d like to take it just one day at a time.”

you are so right, Larry and you wrote it perfectly...
I think if we knew the future, we would be tempted to alter our lives in ways which would not work out in our best interests.

You're right, one day is scary enough!  lol  Though, it would be nice to occasionally get a peak at the last page.

I'll go for that. One day at a time is the best way to live. I think!

Yes Larry, I do believe in letting nature take its course or rather, leave our destiny in God's hands.  For now, let's live happily, whatever that's on its way to us...come what may. (oh yes, I pray for good things to happen too! )

Larry

Wise to take a day at a time like this...I cut it down even further to hours and minutes....fill them up with as much possitive as possible and you can change the future.

James,
But I don't think we could be selective. So I'd rather not look ahead at all. Thanks.

Lauren,
Yup...I know that feeling and agree. Thanks.

Sy,
Among other things that won't be learned. Thanks Sy.

Star T,
Welcome to Passions. Hope you like it here as much as I have. And thank you for your kind words. Peace.

Kellie,
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed. Hope all is well.

Larry,
The Song goes (I think!) 'One Day at a time, sweet Jesus, One Day at a time,...etc..), and whatever we do, that is all we can do, just take each day as it comes.   Who is to know what is around the corner?, It could be happiness, it could be sorrow - just best that we don't know - and we have been around long enough now to know whatever it is - we will cope, and the older and wiser you get, the easier it becomes.
I wish you Peace and Happiness for you and yours.
John
