Worth How insignificant an omnibus of someone's past is a thousand million tablets in front of a thousand million apes one finally writes 'Hamlet' another writes 'Mein Kampf' and another writes Genesis 100 years a punctuation dot in a vast work we hardly register a waterbug ripple in search of that heated mind spa to bask in in reality, it is but a slowly boiling kettle and we, the frog that senses not that he is cooking So give me a reason why this life's parsec should be granted dignity? It's a brief boardgame winner take all and when its done . . . Then again, if I failed to wake up on the birthing day I would have never seen a child being born nor the sunset over the Smokey mountains or sailboats being pushed by gulf breezes or lived to hear Beethoven or see a Rembrandt or read a Dickens Even in the blink of an eye man can create a lasting past out of inspiration out of desperation that never is outdated that never dies [This message has been edited by ShadowRider (07-11-2002 08:08 PM).] |

wonderful poetry - deep things to ponder - is worth random or forced - lots of good "what if" stuff - I liked it so much - Paul |

(smiles) Oh Jeff, yes, indeed, there is indeed so much more that remains outside of that whole "thank you for playing, try again!" jargon the world can play on us! (big hugggsssssss) May you always find those smiles ithat are of great worth, sweet friend, this is excellent, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jeff, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

100 years a punctuation dot in a vast work we hardly register a waterbug ripple You have some amazing, but true concepts in this poem.... and you have expressed them so very well. ~ hugs and smiles Lyra |

You know Jeff...You come up with some terrific thoughts in your writing... things that stay with me a long while after I have finished reading..for the third time. and that is a very good thing.... THIS is pure poetry!! ~Thank you hugs for the keeper~ ~Somewhere in my heart I'm always |

Bravo...what would you and I have done not to read that which has past before us... could we have been the creators? and would we have done 1/100th the justice that was done before us? |

My Dear Goodnight (I feel like I am addressing someone in a James Bond Movie **smile**) You strike at the essence of this in your reply. Sort of a twist on the ‘what’s it all about’ question, but with a possible answer. Thankx, Paul, for your reply and insight. Noah, aaaaah, the game is afoot, is it not! I just want to be the wheelbarrow and not the racecar! Something decidedly Freudian about which Monopoly piece selected, n’est pas? Nodding at your reply Loner: much obliged for your reading this drawn out question. If I caused thought, then success has been achieved. Thankx so much! Thankx y’all! Be good to all who love you! jeff |

Lyra, dear friend: I will try to write you tonight or tomorrow. Something touching and profound happened today that made me think of you. and it made me grateful for things I had forgotten. You are extremely generous in your reply, always, and I hardly deserve the mention. Thank you. TD: awwww shuckey darns….making a guy blush What gift in return….hmm…..thinking a challenge is in order here. hows about….mmmm….writing a poem about someone you met that enriched your life in a major way? Or perhaps, someone you would like to meet that you feel sparks your imagination. Nance! Hi gal! Ready for a rip-roarin’ weekend? boyyyyyy, I am! Every time I read your work, I sense a great kindness about you. It’s a peaceful calm that tames a day’s impolite storms. Now, THAT is a gift! Thank you Nancy! Karilea, mmm mmm love your philosophical reply. As you can probably tell,I fancy myself a thinker, but more often than note, I am just a Goob. That thinks...waaaaay too much in so far as your question, in my wildest dreams, I would like to imagine myself as having an impact: a worth, that transcends years, and may be read sometime in the days to come. To have a legacy like that, would make my writing days seem worthwhile. dot dot dot, but then reality sets in. Emerson said it best: Ahh, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp, or else, what is a heaven for? Many humble thankx, y’all! jeff [This message has been edited by ShadowRider (07-11-2002 10:36 PM).] |
