![]() Tell me grandpa I want to know about your times so long ago when everything was so old and all about your life so bold like when you had to hunt for food skin the rabbits that grandma stewed Tell me grandpa I want to know about your times so long ago when you had to ride on horseback along the dusty winding track the miles you rode just to get to school in those days this was the rule all the children traveled this way most of the time in the heat of day Tell me grandpa I want to know about your times so long ago those days of old that are now past in your memory they last and last I want to hear them, my grandpa dear please share them with me, I want to hear about the olden days, you cherish dearly so then in my memory, I too see them clearly then I can sit and tell my kids all about what grandpa did Tell me grandpa I want to know about your times so long ago Image courtesy & copyright of Greg Olsen Gallery Love is the life of the soul... |

Ah Tracie ... this one touches me a great deal. How I loved to sit with my own grandfather, and hear his wonderful tales. I only wish I'd written more down when I had the opportunity. This is a wonderful reminder to all, to listen while we can. Much enjoyed! ![]() Best wishes, /Kit |

it's neat to go to a retirement home or a other care facility for elderly people...and listen to the stories...and the wisdom that these folks have to give to us young people...if we'd only listen ![]() |

History of family and of the world is always better straight from the source rather than a book. This was a very sweet piece and your repetitive lines made it a sure joy to read and I am glad I didn't miss it. |

I use to love my grandfather telling me all about how he came to America and all the inventions that were firsts for him...he use to also peel an apple in one piece, then give me the skin...while he ate the apple...I could never do that no matter how hard I tried...funny the little things you remember about those who have passed on. hugs M |

Beautiful poem. My dad lived in those days, when they walked or rode a horse to school. I love this one. Nan |

Tracie, I love it when history is handed down in stories and songs and you seem to be carrying on a tradition in fine style here Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |
