Embrace by a Shadow

Wrapped arms around me,
her embrace,
fit loosely,
like coat, several sizes too large.

Squatting down, I slipped from her caress
of lying smiles,
straying eyes,
restless loins.

Those nights bled tears
more dreaded than the ones of now,
for now, tears are of relief,
though shame of self,
too easily deceived.

Condoms in the nightstand,
hints,
yet ones I wouldn’t face,
‘till two shadows on bedroom window
spoke truth I had shunned.

Now late at night when sleep
refuses,
I walk the house alone,
no longer embraced by a shadow.

Interesting how we think and write about shadows, from welcome to wanton.
And somehow find the dark side in them, at night.
Curious.
Enjoyed your poem.

This one has sharp edges on it, Michael...
So beautifully expressed.

the loner_23,
thank you for reading and the nice words.

Nancy,
You're much too kind, but I LOVE it anyway! LOL!  Thank you and *hugs*

Martie,
Thank you!  It's always so good to see your name on one of my poems. *hugs*

Krawdad,
Interesting response.  Thank you!

Noah,
This happened so many years ago that it's now almost a blur.  Well, not really, but wish it was.  Thank you, my friend.

Lyra,
Yeah, sharp edges, but deservedly so, I'm afraid.  Thank you, Lyra, so nice to see you here.

Roniece,
Thanks for the "Bravo" and for reading.

Thanks everyone
