Street Poetry The streets are overrun with violence I`ve seen the most bright people with promising futures slienced I am inspired to write by my surroundings So I submerge myself in poetic drownings I began to rhyme to the rhythm of the gunshots The people in my hood are atheist but idolize Tupac Sad scene of single mothers, crack babies being born Even if I make it out the hood my soul is forever torn Dreams of happiness come on the daily basis People getting 25 to life never again will I see their faces Young girls future lost because she opened her legs That 18 minutes of pleasure now equal 18 years of pain Realizing my future is uncertain I remain at home behind the curtains I stay quiet because I`m on a violence diet Another mother loses her child the tension high enough to start a riot Some say I have poetic gift, survival is inside me I hope their right but in the mean time I pray that the spark from this gun doesn`t blind me Street Poetry |

You tell it the way it is, and I really enjoy that! It isn't the easiest thing to look at reality, and capture it so well, as you have done here. My compliments, and yes, I think you have the gift of poetry, also!! Keep it up!! Open the door and let your adventure begin!!! |

Street Poet The streets are a hard place, callus and indifferent most times..but it seems a tender heart also grows within its shadow. |

streetpoet, There are some people that will survive the streets, make sure that you are one of them! The people that remained trapped there, need an advocate. Your pen, coupled with your talent and honesty, could be their voice. Keep writing of your life...everyone needs to see your "hood" through your eyes. ~wranx "Writing is a perfectly natural thing to do...provided it's done in private and you wash your hands afterward"....Heinlein. |

I like this a lot, and you're other peice too...you've got a lot of talent. If you don't already have them, get Tupac's "The Rose That Grew From Concrete" and his other poetry book, and look at some of Talib Kweli's poetry..your style and the messages you're giving are similar. Keep it real, you've got a lot of talent Tai |
