In the softness of your arms You are my country In your strength of your conviction You have my heart In your compassion for all races You carry my devotion In the variety of all the faithful You carry my prayers In the landscape of endless possibilities My mind floats among the skies of your saviors Those that have stood proud and by your side Who still carry the sprit within the flag To create the magic of peace in other lands Never meant to be perfect, our nation grows Politicians will always carry special interests But the vote of the people changes politics Lawyers create loopholes that subsidize a few But the masses of the electorate will prevail With the constitution being the law of the land WorldCom, Enron, Tyco, Global Crossing, ImClone And other American giants Firestone and other foreign interests Wall Street cries for it knows the public will awake Demanding accountability into the highest ground of creditability In fireworks the heads of CEO’s, FEO’s will roll Taking their undue wealth with them But with the sin they committed No money will save them From the American scrutiny Sooner than later The bribes will fail to gain respect And the sewer will invade their house of ill repute So Martha Steward so pure in your designs Take food for thought You ate more than you could chew And your upset stomach is making Americans sick The only savior here is the plain truth For one small lie will cost you your fortune To become junk bond fashion So big business is good business Wall Street says But how come the headaches for investors Get bigger than the migraines of management So Wall Street I think it is time to think small As small as an American standing guard for their country Willing to invest their live for the individuality This country has to offer Will words of the common citizen be heard? Only if the timid roar like a loin Sending politicians defending their back sides As if a pack of wild dogs had awoke them from sleep And the nightmare of public outcries lights the fireworks Of the Fourth Of July under them D.Lester Young (07/04/02) Tuscaloosa, AL Copyright © D.Lester Young (White Eagle poetry) |

Alright! Tell it like it is! These words aren't pessimistic they're realistic! |
