The Sleepy Hollow They call this place the “Sleepy Hollow” With plants so wild and grand. There are special things that aren’t so shallow Upon this beautiful land. The grass that grows so high and mighty The birds that sing with cheer. The flowers that grow with pretty blossoms All make up the love that’s here. The pond of spring so cool and nice The fountain falling softly Are enough to make the peacefulness Of God’s united country. The trees stand tall beyond the sky The hills are high and bright. The sun is out to make us warm And flood us with His light. As night falls upon us now The stars come out of hiding. To shine upon this place of hollow And bid us all good tidings. The nature grows so special here It’s one I’d like to follow. Cause there’s a place that is so dear They call it “Sleepy Hollow.” Cynthia Mack (cpalmer) June 3, 1989 This poem is posted in memory of my good friend's father, Joseph LeRoy Fish, who passed away on March 20, 2002...While his daughters were going through his things, they found this poem that I had written while visiting there just after college. I had not seen this since the day I gave it to them until my friend gave it to me this last weekend...I felt it necessary to share this with all of you as a tribute to her dad. I want you to know that I feel honored to be able to be a part of this memory for you. I know this poem is beautiful, and that you will forever cherish it...Just as much as you do your friends and their father... |

Cindi, It was meant to be. What a blessing to be comforted by our own words. And it is indeed a wonderful poem a tribute to a family in sorrow. Well done Ms. Mack (Palmer). |

cpalmer, I really enjoyed this and hearing the story of how it came to be back in your hands again after so long. I had a great aunt pass away earlier this year and all through her life she had kept every thank you note etc written to her. Upon going through her things, her daughter then sent back these little pieces of memories back to their original owner or composer. It was special rereading all of these memories. Dawn |

Cindi- Hi there. I decided to do a bit of digging tonight and I came across this one. It definitely deserves another ride to the top. You already know that I love this one; but, in case I didn't say it before, I do believe this is one of your best. I hope all is going well for you. Don't be a stranger. Hugs, ~Vicky "...until you have read the verse on his heart, |
