Where One Places Faith is Vital

“I have faith in my suspenders,”
said the farmer to his hoss.
“I have faith in my suspenders,
for they know just who is boss.”

“If I bend or contort, or pull my head up short,
they keep my pants from falling down.
If I dance a jig with my pig, while he dines on some figs,
they’ll keep me from looking like a clown.”

“But, alas, I tie my shoe, while I gander at you,
trying to find an encouraging smile,
I come up with a start, for you’ve stolen my heart,
and get them caught on the rise of the stile.”

“Then my lip’s set aquiver, from force of the sliver
that has snapped with the spring of the fling,
as suspenders, fin’ly rendered, themselves unsuspendered
and snapped up my faith with their sting.”

(giggles in delight) Oh my gosh, this reminds me of that proverb Spanish use for courage as pants, whereas if one is cowardly that man has no pants. (sigh) I love the clever metaphor you use here, sweet friend, I LOVE IT, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Virginia, thank you for sharing!
