Long story short my friend died and I need a poem to read/bury him with at his funeral, and since I can't write in poetry I was hoping someone here could write me one. I could PM you all the info you need and you can run with it.

Someone take some time and help me out here, please, I'm desperate and he REALLY loved poetry so this is crucial...

I am sorry to read this request for a poem.  It is particularly sad to read why you want the poem.  My heart goes out to you.

I'm very sorry about your loss.  I know it's a difficult time.  I wrote this for my dad's funeral 5 years ago.  Feel free to use it.

We Held Your Hand

We hearkened to resounds of heaven’s whispering
Your name, beheld in countenance of sovereign Grace.
We held your hand until we heard the angels sing

In harmonies melodic as the spawn of spring,
Extolling visions of a hallowed time and place.
We hearkened to resounds of heaven’s whispering

A song so sweet, our yearning hearts envisioning
Your dancing blithefully about celestial space.
We held your hand until we heard the angels sing

Songs of release from burdens earthly trek may bring,
Our visions with the stars to see your joyous face.
We hearkened to resounds of heaven’s whispering.

Bequeathing now our hold to end all suffering,
For mortal days so surely wrought in steadfast pace.
We held your hand until we heard the angels sing

One hand in ours, one touched upon seraphic wing,
Our grasp released to bind ethereal embrace.
We hearkened to resounds of heaven’s whispering;
We held your hand until we heard the angels sing.
