so i went to a pinsky reading and one thing he talked about was writing a poem about the next thing you touch. this led to things like pen, keyboard, other hand, etc. The Proposed Challenge is to write a poem on something you previously thought pedantic, pedestrian, quotidienne, unpoetic, soulless (i think it is one l but two of them make it symetric which i like); you get the idea. something like toilet bowl, or tube of toothache killer, or hairbrush. below is one of mine as an example: some you you may have seen it before. ---------- her curves call to my loins and heart all at once I drink her in as the light from her eyes illuminates the night, she turns smoothly as we climb higher, her skin has a soft sheen in the moonlight, with a throaty roar I drive her harder, faster, and she purrs under me; my one, my only, my '69 stingray vette; if she were a woman, I would marry her. |

I don't believe you want to read my 'Ode to a Zit'! Perhaps I can come up with something for this challenge. |

With fingers on keys I write this verse I’ve done much better And done much worse Slightly curved My keyboard sits Waiting for my few little hits A couple of clicks A space bar or two And I may have A poem for you My muse is gone Since I don’t know when Too bad I can’t find it By pressing ‘F ten’ It would be so simple To write by stroke of key But then my keyboard Would be the author not me |
