In old times they told a story of Siegfried of Austria, a hero of many battles with evils, who died fighting the last dragon. See what you can do with that. |

He was the first called fire man To slay the dragon in his lair Tall and wide, bold of eye He could stop you with his stare They say he was without heart Though fiercely he did fight No conscience he, nor fear He fought tho t’were wrong or right His body scarred from swords Drawn by knights of bold His pockets jangled as he walked Filled with bounty’s gold One day he found a maiden Singing softly in a field She smiled at him to soften The sword that she would wield Surprised by her bold challenge A woman warrior was she But he had no quarrel with her And turned to let her be Swift was her arcing saber Shattering breast and bone He lay bleeding in the field Left there all alone She lived but never told the tale Leaving his fateful story to the sages And so it was recounted then Through time and the ages: In old times they told a story of Siegfried of Austria, a hero of many battles with evils, who died fighting the last dragon |
