ok you may or may not have tried this before but it seems like fun to me... i challenge you all to write a found poem. here's how it works ~Select a section from a favorite book Choose the sentences or phrases you find to be especially significant. Edit the sentences so that you have at least ten lines and no more than fifteen. Lines cannot be longer than eight words. The words must be left in the same order, but sequence in which the phrases are used can be changed. Phrases may be repeated for emphasis. Most importantly, you cannot add any of your own words, but words from the text can be eliminated. The end result will be poetry that you "found" your book of choice!~ Good luck to all!! ~barbaraj ~You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in people, than you can in two years by trying to get people interested in you.~ |

i forgot to mention that u can use things besides books for the found poem. you can also use - a political manifesto - a public place - a conversation ...basically anywhere where there might be WORDS. ~here's an interesting example i found. it was written using words founds on packages and signs in a diner. Flapjacks Fresh, thin cut onions, Exit. Moo Juice. Meetin' Room- Wash Rooms Taste the Difference Smuckers, Concord Grape Jelly.
