big old Bangor Maine up by the shack

I thought that I knew love
that heart pounding first glance
when you see the person of your dreams
come down and land softly in your life

But I knew nothing of love
until the day my daughter was born
and with the crowning of her head
I realized what and empty life I had lead

Then as I felt this unselfish love
I grew to know even more
that of faith and hope for my children
an understanding of the gift God had given us

I know you may love someone
I know that you may have faith in god
I know that you may have the gift of a child
but have all three and then you shall know true love

A real man

kisses his children goodnight
