It's so very hard to be a poet without enjoying and loving music, too... right? So, what song [in prose or in poem] describes YOU best? And since we all have varying moods [pass the Prozac please] you can post one or more in the appropriate areas... Have Fun! Karilea When you want to be loved, look within...KRJ |

a great challenge idea... but the music I listen to I don't know if I would want to find myself in that. I think I have a song lyric but we can't reproduce lyrics because of copyrighting, right? well so I guess that is the challenge. Ok off to think about this one. =========================== Ok I don't know if this is what you wanted, the song is MY Little Empire BY Manic Street Preachers. words " " are by Nicky (Wire) Jones. I know it is not exactly "shiny happy people" the song is about living in your own world, isolation but also that the isolation that comforts can also destroy. Comfort song It is a sad little melody, opening with an electric guitar, and acoustic bass lines, wrapped in sombre cellos and gentle drumming. Two voices, one deadpan the other one with restrained gusto, melt over the music, as it revolves in simplicity barely changing tone or texture. Yet in its basic form lies its beauty, In its sadness lies its hope, like the overcast skies underscored with ebbing light, "All of my sins are attempts to fill the voids All of my voids they are filled with sin All of my demons they are kept within And all my violence it does not exist" These words speak to me, that gentle Un-intrusive way of living, content isolation Yet the awareness that while walls protect They also imprison, " My little empire I'm bored of being bored" But whatever the existence sadness surrounds blankets and dulls the outside, wrapped up to myself, sleep brings solace, as the music lulls me to a tranquil sigh. "My little empire I'm happy being sad." "an afixiation a fix on anything the line of life the limb of a tree the hands of he and the promise that s/he is blessed among women". Sunshine, I couldn't do a single song and I'm not going to compete with MARK. But would you accept a sort of "Vulcan mind meld" for a number of songs that describe me. Thanks. Kethry. Ok - I've a number of them: Classical: Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano concerto New Age: Ray Lynch's Deep Breakfast POP: I love Michael Legrand's music when accompanied by the lyrics of the Bergman's - in particular "Watch what Happens" and "What are you doing the rest of your life" I may think of more - and anyone else who likes these as well is free to use them too - but I'll attempt to write some poetry to one or more of these in the coming days. So I'll use this list as a remiinder of my self-made committment |

A long time ago when I first began posting here at these forums, I wrote a song called "The Music of My Heart". I think it was often mistaken for the feelings for a person but indeed it was about music. No that I don't take pride in people fitting my poetry to their lives. But here it is: A poem about music to meet your challenge To reach out and feel you surrounding me To feel my body enwrapped in you Catching every last word Holding it dearly to my heart I strain to hear every sound To feel every beat To listen not with my ears but with my heart To catch the meaning and understand To take solitude in your meaning The tone, the pitch, the sound Ringing in my ears Through my heart And out of my mouth Consoling my pain Working through my anger Taking away the loneliness Taking away the tears To reach out and feel you surrounding me To feel my body enwrapped in you Is truly my dream come true (posted Open Poetry #7) |
