YAY!!! Oh my gosh, I thought my challenge would never get any more responses, then you come in with this excellent one! (kiss on cheek) Sadly I have never listened to her music, but now I really want to; as you know my favorite artist is Shakira and she is my idol! (smiles) This is abeautiful tribute to Joan, sweet friend, you have inspired me to look her up, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

her music mesmerized a generation peaceful rebellion woven with mistrust She was a sign of the times wasn't she? This was great Lyra~ I remember that song, "Diamonds and Rust" but I can't for the life of me remember the words to it. I'm heading out on a mission right about now to track them down. Thanks for this, you've done her proud!! |

Aww this is awesome, I wish Joan could read it. When I was younger my idol was always Whitney Houston but I never got to see her in concert Now my fav is Shakira and I am all ready to go see her in concert. |

La Madame de Munk-Ster: pleasant praise and well deserved by Joan. She doesnt have any idea how much honor you give her by posting this! Waaaaaay cool! "From Every Stage" is my 2nd fav Baez work, with Diamonds and Rust sending happy shivers down my spin upon each listen of it. Remember those old folk Vanguard recordings? I have at least 3 of hers on that label still. ps.....love the 8-track touch here! That was Classic! Your sense of style is unmatched! *s* jeff ~singing: it's all come back too clearly Yes I loved you dearly And if you're offering me diamonds and rust I've already paid ~ |

Oh, this is wonderful. What a perfect tribute. I remember her music well. And the picture of the 8 track added to the feel. Very cool idea. Sandra |

Oh my gosh, I just idolized her back in the 60's. I wouldn't have gotten through college without Joan, Bob Dylan and a host of others. I enjoyed this so much and it flooded me with memories nearly forgotten. Hugs, Marti " My wrinkles are badges of courage and reveal that I am a Mother." |

Thanks Noah, I guess that makes us even because I have never listened to Shakira. I think each generation has it's musical hero's. My mother has never listened to Joan Baez either, and I don't think I have ever listened to Benny Goodman...who was a big band leader in her generation. ~musical hugs~ copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Thanks Lori, I have 2 of her CDs and a couple of old records...if you can believe that! I actually have a bunch of old record albums here, and they are probably worth something, but I'm not ready to part with them just yet. I have Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Judy Collins and a whole bunch of Beetle albums among others. I even have an old turntable but I'm not sure if it works anymore. I hope you find what you're looking for. ~hugs from the sixties~ copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Thanks so much for your reply, Lauren... I agree with you, theres nothing like a live concert...I am so happy that I got to see her in person...it was worth every penny we paid. She kept getting standing ovations and coming back for encores... it was a great evening. ~live concert hugs~ copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Thanks Jeff, I have Joan Baez on 2 Vanguard CDs, and some old record albums... I listen to her in my car all the time, and sometimes in my house...but lately, I've been spending more time in my car... I love the words to "Diamonds and Rust" Its about her relationship with Bob Dylan the unwashed phenomenon the original vagabond heading straight for a fall" "I remember your eyes were bluer than robin's eggs your poetry was lousy, you said" "the madonna was yours for free yes the girl on the halfshell to keep you unharmed" I don't have the exact order in my head...but I love the words.... I also love "Sweet Sir Galahad"...that song could have been written about David and me ~hugs from the rebellious sixties~ copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Thanks so much for your reply, Sandra... I think she is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen... When I was younger, I tried to look like her, but could never quite succeed... She's probably about 60 yrs old now...and still very beautiful. ~lots and lots of hugs~ copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Thanks so much, Marti... Yes...where would we be now, without Joan Baez and Bob Dylan... I still remember them from when I was in College...I went to Boston Univ...and Joan Baez had come to give a concert in Boston...She was just starting out, back then and her concert was already sold out after just one day, so I never got to see her until last year.....it was quite a long wait. I did get to see her sister, Mimi Farina in concert, though. Its about Mimi that "Sweet Sir Galahad" is written.... Mimi's first husband, Doug Farina...was killed in a motorcycle accident shortly after they were married and the song is about Mimi and her new husband. My husband and I think its also about us. ~memory sharing hugs~ copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Thanks Donna...You are right...they just don't make music like they did back in the sixties... even the late sixties...the Moody Blues and Crosby Stills and Nash... ~hugs full of sixties musical memories~ copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |
