With all the wrath
of the Mencken wit
I criticized the critics,
mocked their lives as words.
With all the pride
of adolescence,
verbiage of a life’s work
I sought the renaissance,
fought the holocaust
armed with the lie
of silver and gold.

A self appointed,
enlightened speaker,
prodigal priest of Xanadu,
recognizing the righteous burden
to annihilate approval,
subtly selling
subtlety’s memories -
time chasing progress
to a conceptualized end.
