Snug The eyebrows of most folks, when I mention that my residence floats in the third to the last slip from the dock's end, scrunch a bit, and then their voice sort of evaporates like fog when the sun first catches it. That's okay I guess, though once, just once it would be nice if they would look at how she sits, her hull all white as though a gull about to lift from the harbor. Flight, which is much of what a sloop is all about, has always packed the wonder of expanse into tight places. "Cockpit", for example, applies to both an aircraft and a sailboat. Well, enough of this. All I know is how it feels, on a cold, damp night to step through the hatch and downward climb beneath the waterline. Nothing beats keeping dry in a close space when the weather makes up. RMW |

I would indeed be envious Sir. . . well done. . . ------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Bob, the title caught my eye...love that word, 'snug'. Then I read your post and had a flood of memories of when I lived almost always aboard our cruiser years ago. Love this...may I ask...and this is a favourite question of mine to boat owners... what is her name? Wondeful dreamy write...Snug...yes! ~Hugs, Nancy~ |
