There is a haunting stillness
hanging in the air this magic night
broken only by the soulful rhythm
of tiny wavelets on the sand
and the faintest, muted whisper
of a barely present breeze.

Above, the moon drifts lazily
in the endless, darkened sky,
turning tides upon the shore
on the sand under my feet;
casting spells where e’re it shines,
and bewitching lovers in the night.

It tugs upon the heartstrings
and beckons all to follow
across a path of glimmering silver
lain out upon a sapphire pool,
as coyly it entices wispy clouds
into a game of hard to get.

Like a siren drawing sailors in
it plays a romantic song
strummed on strings of gossamer
that are laced upon my heart,
and fills the air with mystery
on this enchanted night.

Poetry is an expression of feelings.  I do not write poems, but rather, the poems use me to write themselves.

You are under the same moon spells I am! What an enchanting poem. Thanks.

"lain out upon a sapphire pool,
as coyly it entices wispy clouds
into a game of hard to get."

I especially liked that line. Enjoy the night!

Like a siren drawing sailors in

strummed on strings of gossamer
that are laced upon my heart,

Ah, what a night indeed

The strands in your eyes
That color them wonderful
Stop me & steal my breath...

If I could describe the moon as you do...

I would no longer need to write of anything
else...

This is fantastically shown through your
words...

This is enchanting, indeed!   This is perhaps the best poem ever tributed to the moon.  I look forward to more of your poems.

Take care,
Melissa~
