Often I was travelling throughout all the United States
I'll tell you that I encountered some of the weirdest dates
And so one day as I walked into this outdoor home town
I set myself next to an old man with a very deep frown

I asked him: "Sir are you alright? You're looking not too well
He said: Missy dear, that's a story I would gladly tell
He looked at me from head to toe and thought I was alright
I leaned back and told him that I'd love to listen all night

He told me about this time when he was so much younger
He had this urge for passion and a poetic hunger
He had roamed the internet and found these pages so blue
'Missy, I thought I was in Heaven, that is really true'

'I started there submitting some of the poems that I'd wrote
And I got me replies, you may say as a wagon's load
I came there upon a fellow, I think he's called Long John
Sometimes you saw him frequently, but mostly he was gone

I think he had some doing, concerning 'ol' man's sea
But he could write nice stories Miss, as I am telling thee
And then there was this other fellow, Toereg was his name
Oh, we didn't meet that often, but it was all the same

Sometimes we were nagging each other in a friendly way
You should've had a chance to read those poems Missy, I'd say
They were so funny, we often laughed our heads off you see
But I remember now some things went wrong because of me

King of Ballads they called me, but why? I really don't know
I was just writing lines you see although they had nice flow
Oh Missy, when I wrote those stories they could all well end
in scolding those two other guys, but it was friendly meant

When we appear on pages blue, all Poets stood alert
For we could call each other names and throw a little dirt
Yea Missy those were the good times, but all of them are gone
Because there was this Kevin see, now listen what he's done

He challenged me in a verse but God, I could not handle that
I wrote him back a poem that crushed his ego very bad
And then there came another one, who's name was Larry C
Oh dear oh dear I put this guy right down the sewer see

And then came back this sailorman, he said he was a friend
But all the words I read from him they weren't truly meant
So I knocked him out and to hospital he went this lad
The same spot where I'd put this Toereg for the words he'd said

They tried to do me in ya know, but I was a smart guy
I pretended I was the Almighty God, but I surely now don't know why
I put them there in Heaven and they thought they were alright
And if I hadn't messed things up, I think they really might

But while pretending I was God, the real God came along
He told me I was punished for the things that I'd done wrong
He put me in this town and to my luck they've Spam you see
But Missy, what they ain't got here, is ELECTRICITY!!!

So internet was out and for pc's there is no use
I know, I know for what I did there wasn't any excuse
Now Missy, that's my story, as true as I'm sitting here
Oh you're asking my name? Missy, my name is Balladeer

I looked upon this old man and felt a bit compassion
Shouldn't have been playing God, not even for one session
I took his hand and stroked his back and kissed him on the head
Said 'Sir I'm glad we've met, I always thought, "The Deer" was dead

He looked at me with watery eyes and took my hand and kissed
'Well Missy, in a way I am, I know what I have missed
But don't you worry Missy, I am happy, really am
As I told you before, in this town they are serving Spam.

ROFLMAO!!! I love this, Titia!!!! What a wonderful response to Deer's poem. *S* And you hit him where it hurts... no electricity therefore no PIP... could you take away his golf, too? LOL

Don't tell him I said this, but I think he'd miss his buddies even more than he'd miss his beloved Spam or his essential electricity if they never came around. *S*

Titia, with a charm and wit like yours,
even 'Deer shall forgive the iambic beat
for class and integrity you do have
and poems like this their own two feet!

Well at least he still has his Spam!

This is really cute, and so well done Titia...
Its like one of Balladeer's poems turned inside out.

I think he'll get a really big laugh out of it...but I agree with Martie,
he'll probably get you back so be warned!

Ah, Titia, I remember when I saw you in that place
Right after I'd met God and had a little fall from grace.
He told me that he wasn't really that upset, you know,
When church choirs sang "Praise Balladeer, from whom all blessings flow".

Or even when small children kneeled 'fore going off to sleep
and said, head bowed, "I pray to Balladeer my soul to keep"
Not even that aroused His ire to smite me with his hand
For, though it was a bit untruthful, he could understand.

When people sneezed and said "Deer, bless me!" - that got Him a bit.
When people sang "Amazing Balladeer" He had a fit!
But when He heard female voices caught in passion's spell
Scream out "OH, BALLADEER!"..well, that was when He gave me Hell!

But everything is better now..electricity is back.
Spam is in abundance anytime I need a snack.
My poetry flows from my pen and Toerag hides in fear
And, though I am not God I'm still the mighty Balladeer.

Who said I would seek out revenge for what you've written here?
You'll find no trace of retribution in this Balladeer.
I think this poem is wonderful as only you can do
And so, with all the praise I have, please let me say....

Titia that was absolutely fantastic, bet that took you a long time to do, but you sure enough got the Balladeer right where it would hourt him in the "passions", and that smarts!

You are one very clever and funny lady, and I think you are going to have a ball when you come on this trip, I don't think I KNOW   Well done, I could give you a huge knuffle, I am so proud of you, (and Mike's response was kind of good too wasn't it ?)

Ha ha that sure made me feel good.
I just have to study the right iambic meter, but I'm learning, I'm learning.

Hi Deer, you're back then, risen from the 'dead', love it deerly, but I'm not finished with you yet, you just wait and see sweetie patoetie.
