Pillowed by cold folds of clammy mud and blanketed with icy rain drops fallen from tempest laden skies, She lay shivering along the roadside waiting for her night to pass. Praying to silent gods between shivers And convulsing hungered shudders, Desperation transfigured in sobbing pleas She turns her bruised face to the clouds Seeking direction, reason, truth. You can't wake a person who is pretending to be asleep. -- Navajo Proverb |
