What is Poetry? Poetry is what exists before the phrase is formed It’s the thread connecting all of life before the child is born It’s the essence of the absolute, belief in the unknown It’s the seed that the imaginary eye has gently sewn Poetry is music, that can reap aesthetic bliss From notions of the most surreal to power of a kiss It’s the way a thought slips o’er the words, the way it lights the eye That makes it the most intimately tender lullaby Poetry is everywhere the mind has ever been And it flows in beauty from a sacred well of truth within A phrase that settles in the soul, and dwells in comfort there Is a truth the all innately knew, though never brought to bear It is poetry that pulls a teardrop from the dessert sand It’s the words unleashing what is there before the eyes of man [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (05-05-2002 03:33 PM).] |

Beautiful...I love the poetic reply to this question. Smiling, much more graceful than my two-word silent answer, which was merely: "What isn't?" (I decided I didn't really want to know the answer to my own question! ) Graceful, graceful, as always, Liz. |

Poetry is a Sonnet, in the shape of Liz a couplet gently rhymed from the wisp of kiss |

I am printing this, getting it done in gold and putting it in a frame beside one I have framed of Karilea's - and into my time capsule this will go, as a friend's knowledge in print! Big hugs Liz, this was just beautiful and will become a treasured keepsake of mine. Imagination is more important that knowledge |
