If its romance, it gets read if its a joke, it gets said; if insightful, you may get zero and spiteful, remember Nero? what to choose depends on me what you read depends on thee; what I think is what I say not all worlds are made that way. if its paper it gets folded if you're snarky you get scolded; in doubt of reason? questions get asked when accused of treason, judgement goes to task. time ticks on, from ant hills, army ants spill soils around bore the fruit of seasonal tills; questions are asked when reasons are planted judgement is tasked, what are my chances. what stations show, depends on public view what restaurants serve, depends on something new what to choose depend on me what I get depends on thee. if its a narrative, it gets fed it gets hollow when veins are bled; if insightful, remember Nero and spiteful, close to zero? What on earth this was doing so far down the page with no replies I don’t know however it’s now bumpity bump to the top of page one. Where others can read it I really love your style Martin it is excellent Love and warm stuff As always Mushy To give light to them that sit in darkness..... to guide our feet into the way of peace Luke 2:79 |

time ticks on, from ant hills, army ants spill soils around bore the fruit of seasonal tills; i liked the above two lines very much...i will like that mental image turned into a haiku... i liked the way how you asks and answers your questions at the same time...good technique... may i ask though:what is the meaning of Nero? my dictionary doesn't include the entry... |

Nero 37-68 A.D. "Famous as the emperor who "fiddled while Rome burned", Nero is one of the more interesting characters to wear the imperial purple. The first five years of his reign were considered the "Golden Time" of Imperial Rome. However, he was more passionate about the arts and chariot racing than he wa about governing the Empire, which soon made him extremely unpopular with the army and the Senate. Emotionally and psychologically unstable, having a flare for the dramatic, and possessing nearly unlimited resources made Nero a truly shocking figure at points during his reign. On the good side, he was responsible for one of the greatest flourishing of the arts in the history of Rome. In the end, several rebellions and mutinees brought about his death through suicide. He was the last of the Julio-Claudian emperors." http://www.ga.k12.pa.us/academics/MS/8th/romanhis/nero.htm |

oh the irony. i can't wait to see how this reign ends. understood, agreed - think of it this way: working off the inverse rule... if less = more, then zero = perfection! Chris |

well Chris, A pleasure to have your comment, yes my writes do seeth with ironical statements..Nero was popular to himself and his following so we have been given to understand but his mention now and again in Italian conversations..mean quite the contrary..he had fervour and was known for his extreme pleasures. |

Nero, at least as depicted by Tacitus, appeared as more of a coward than a man of the arts. The whole implied incest deal with his mom, the failed attempt on her life, the successful one... all a bad deal. -Raz |

BRAVO!!! And I also believe that it is not always wise to go with what is popular overall and lose ourselves in that trend, it is better to be popular with your own original beliefs and to trust your instincts, for then after all we may lose our identities following the same old ant march! (big hugggssssss) This is so very provoking, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martin, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! I agree...some irony at its finest and a lot of truth said. I am curious about one thing, though..... what to choose depends on me what you read depends on thee; changed by the end to.... what to choose depend on me what I get depends on thee. I'm curious as to whether that was intentional or not or perhaps I'm simply over-analyzing. The first couplet says to me that you are going to choose what you want and if it is read, fine and, if not, fine too whereas the second one says to me that your satisfaction is based on the responses. Of course I may be reading it all wrong....I am prone to do that....just curiosity. I salute the writing g |

Balladeer, Not over analyzing at all, that is the hidden message here, there is a greater pleasure seeing what the poem does for people, and I am not less satisfied than any average poet..liken more comments. That said I will still write what is pertinent for me even though I risk getting no comment at all...one can click and comment or disregard, the message of the poem is what's important in the end, not the number of comments... so there is actually no reversal of opinion in the two separate couplets you quoted, one couplet is carefully distanced from the first to add to remind you of it and add to it too [This message has been edited by ecrivan (05-05-2002 01:49 AM).] |
