have you ever felt overwhelmed by things you can't control?
nervous and anxious to see what comes next to fight off
nonsense and BS mixed like a cheap cocktail from a shabby bar
like walking through a valley in the middle of a war zone
feeling sniper scopes on you from unknown assailants
and you know there's nothing you can do but try to not step on the land mines
oh dear lord guide my feet as I travel on deadly ground
keep me swift and silent as I dance from cover to cover under watchful eyes
slow their fingers and blur the eyes of my enemies
and keep my mind sharp and clear
grant me the focus I need to survive
in this ever changing world we live on
and on the days when I feel like I'm second to everything
you show me how special I really am
and when no one believes me you stand there and tell me you do
and it's on those days that I sometimes don't let you know how much I love you
how I could never smile the way you make me smile
you make my day brighter just with the sound of your voice
and you touch makes my heart skip and my mind float away
together, everything you do for me becomes my shield, my weapon
and the rock I lean on when I can't take another step
you are everything I've ever wanted and will ever need
to me, you will always be beautiful and the best parts of who I am
so remember this on the darkest days
when my temper is short and my body worn
it's not you who put me down
you keep me up long enough to survive
and you will always have my heart and soul
no matter what anyone says or does
