Recently, I am getting this error message...when I first come on line sometimes, at least once a day maybe more. I usually just close it and it goes away..but have no idea what it is, what it does and why it is showing up..I have aol as my server so I am assuming it has to do with the internet explorer..and I am in an older version as I have windows 98 and dont wish to update it on this computer... advanced INF Installer Error unregistering the OCX c:\windows\ iesearch.dll c:\windows\ieasst.dll (RegistryEntries) HKLM at one time yesterday something popped up telling me to insert a disk but it didn't hang around long enough for me to catch it's information... "advanced INF Installer Error unregistering the OCX c:\windows\ iesearch.dll c:\windows\ieasst.dll (RegistryEntries) HKLM" It's actually a parasite or commonly known as spyware. The thing may of crashed or been deleted so you are ending up with the error message. Basicly to fix it you need to remove the entry in the registry manually or download some spyware removal software that can do it for you. hope this helps |

Ad-Aware has a free download that will eliminate some of the spyware but not all unfortunately. Here is the link to the free download, and its a pretty good program. http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/#free There are two programs that are really good but have to be purchased online though. Registry Doctor, and Spyware Doctor. Here are the links to those for you too Maureen. If you do know how to clean your registry then you could run the free Spyware Doctor to find them, but then you have to eliminate them in the registry one by one, whereas the program they sell (Registry Doctor) eliminates them all at once for you. http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/?ref=trial_google7 I bought the Registry Doctor, and it works great along with Ad-Aware! Hope that helps. |
