I wasn't sure where to post this, so here is as good as any I guess? A lot of us use www.google.ca Definitions: If you want the definition of a word, without the quotes, type "define:" and then the word. Google will search various online dictionaries and encyclopedias for your word (ps. this is a wonderful feature!) Example, without the quotes, type "define:magenta" then click on search (note-no space after the colon) Mathematical Equations on Measurement Conversion: If you don't have a calculator handy, google can do your math. Without the quotes, type "(200*40)/4+600-5" then click on search. It can also convert measurements as well. Without the quotes, type "30 miles per hour * 10 minutes in kilometers" then click on search. It would tell you that you traveled 8.04672 kilometers in those ten minutes. Search Within Sites: You can search within a site by using the "site:" command. For example if you wished to look for candles only on eBay, then you would type "candles site:ebay.com" (note-no space after the colon) then click on search. It would search eBay for candles. Links: If you want to know what web pages link to a site, type "link:" and the name of the webpage to find out. Example, without the quotes, type "link:netpoets.com" (note-no space after the colon) then click on search. ~*~ Anyway, just passing along some info. |
