Actually, it's been up for a while now, and is doing fairly well. Numbers are increasing all around and submissions are coming in at two to three a day. But - there's something still missing. I look at the pages and think to myself that it's missing something. Any feedback, ideas or suggestions would be muchly appreciated. This is a nice clean design, even though I'm not usually in favor of paragraphs that span the entire width of the screen (stretching tables). Good, very simple navigation, and you've remembered to include plain text links at the bottom of the page. Any possible design suggestions (like making the most important links more prominent than those of lesser importance) would be nitpicking. You do, however, still have some pretty serious cross-browser issues, and it's not difficult to see the site was designed for and using IE. Some of the issues degrade gracefully, such as the hover links and the watermark background, but some don't. The center column of the top table, for example, looks good when you first enter with Netscape; but if you scroll down and then back up, Netscape gets very confused and it looks a bit like pickup sticks on steroids. You also have a graphic in the lower left corner, for downloading IE, that consistently comes up as a broken image in Netscape. Not sure why, though I suspect it's the space in the filename. (Because of the differences in operating systems, it's traditional to use the lowest common denominator when naming disk files - everything in lowercase and NEVER use a space. That has more to do with your server than the clients, and if you ever move to a non-Unix machine you'll be glad you did, but in this case it appears to be affecting Netscape, too. I suspect it's the URL encoding and NS isn't properly converting the space char to a %20, but that's just a guess.) It's obvious the content is still growing, and in time you'll want to add more interactivity (like a search feature), but that should be a walk in the park with such a well designed foundation. |

Once again I thank you Ron. You just can't get away from having to help me can you! I will certainly look into the issues you mentioned. One of my biggest things is to try and make it cross-browser compliant, where, as you say, things at the least degrade gracefully! C |

i really loved the layout of this. expecially the EXPLINATION on how to change your resolution. i LOVED that!! the only thing i wasn't a fan of, was how that menu kept catching up to me. i found it distracting, and after about five minutes i wanted to hit my computer. heh. other than that this is a very user-friendly site. you've put a lot of time into this. almost intimidating, but more i find it more inspiring. ::smiles:: /jen/ what if they gave a war, and nobody came... |
