Ok - I'm guessing that I'm wanting the IRM - and feeling a little silly for having to ask. I'd just hate to miss something and end up hurting for it... soooo - http://www.futurequest.net/ir.php#IRM What I have is several domains, each with unique content. As I see this, it's telling me that I can have multiple domains, each with unique content, for the set-up fee of $25.00. I understand I would be limited to the bandwidth and drive space according to the package I have.., but still, assuming I'm reading this right, this would be a good way to go... or am I reading it wrong? Thanks, C |

You're reading it right. You want the IRM, as long as you can live with the restrictions listed. And with the restriction Debbie didn't list... |

OK - then let me pose a few questions... quote: - Meaning how they cropped your bandwidth? Or are there other things? Also: quote: - Does this mean there are simply sub folders beneath the base domain login to manage the IRM's via FTP? What are the advantages/disadvantages and/or needs when speaking of having separate IP#'s? As to the rest - no SQL and I'm accustomed to FTP - so Telnet limitation's no prob... ? Thanks Ron. Ask how they handle your web logs, Chris. Will the traffic from all domains be lumped together? Does it matter to you? (It probably should.) As for the shared IP, that is potentially the really big issue. Personally, I don't think a shared IP is a problem with the search engines - if it's done correctly - but I'll quickly add there are some SEO people who disagree. That big "if" depends on whether the configuration is accomplished through httpd.conf or through mod_rewrite. The former is effectively the definition of virtual servers, and I never had a problem getting #1 rankings with a shared IP. The latter, however, can be detected by the spiders and might result in the domain being treated as a sub-domain by the search engines; i.e., low rankings. |

I got a response (they didn't take a long time to respond to me - actually they're quite prompt. I just hadn't written the request, LOL) quote: Inconclusive, but I understand the need to hold onto company secrets! LOL So - I guess what I'll do is try it. If it seems a problem, then I can always change it around at a later time, right? Thanks, C |
