This is to Ron, or anybody else with experience and knowledge of good software.

I looking for software to setup and manage a site in my area. It needs to be versitile and easy to use.

The site is going to support advertising of bars(clubs/pubs/etc), resturants and any type of place that people frequent socially. A sort of one stop place on the web.

If anybody has any suggestions of some good software Id love to hear from you.

Two million bucks, Parker, and I'll write whatever software you need (I'm not cheap, but I can be had   ).

Seriously, it sounds more like you need a database system than web authoring software. You might investigate Hyperseek, a very popular Directory (like Yahoo!) package. Not cheap, but good. The author, John Cokos, is an acquaintance.

Another friend of mine, Bob Massa, has put together a very extensive Portal system that uses Hyperseek and many other great tools. While a lot of the users are building vertical portals with the system, Bob's emphasis (and many of his articles) has always been on local portals. And that sounds like the direction you're heading. Check it out at http://www.searchkingportal4u.com/
