My query: Doing a site redesign, and want to change my directory structure a bit - How does that affect current SE rankings, if at all, outside the help they possible give from the naming?

Thanks,

C

For most search engines, it won't matter. There are a few, however, that don't like to crawl "too" deep, though no one seems to be able to agree on just how deep is too deep. I would recommend having no content pages more than two directories deep; i.e., countlesshorizons.com/dir/dir/page.htm would be as deep as I would go.

Ron - Thank you! That answers my question completely. I was worried that a change would hurt existing rankings.

Ok - with that answered - would you like to go into a more detailed description of exactly how directory naming/etc. affects rankings?

Peace,

C
