Sea nymph of Pacific pleasures Many a man has fallen for you Enticing them with hidden treasures Dressed in crystal azure blue Undulating waves in perfect motion She casts a glance and tides obey Mistress of the vast blue ocean Changing appearance each night and day When she smiles, the sea is fair Her sunlit waves kiss velvet sand Tradewinds blow her silken hair She beckons a lover to take her hand. Tho’ be forewarned of her fickle moods Changing as the skies turn gray Her oceanic attitudes A tempest tossed on stormy day Don’t ever turn your back on her She demands respect; don’t be a fool Seducing waves of blue allure May suddenly turn her tides on you She softly sings her ancient songs Calling her lover from upon the shore She knows his heart to her belongs; That he’ll return to her once more. Bewitching temptress, lady in blue Who can resist your mystical call? Men through the ages have fallen for you Never could one, resist you at all. A romance with Mother Ocean.... Poetry is: Passion, imagination and intellect running together. Aloha with warmest regards, Cheryl Stewart Koomoa [This message has been edited by CSKpoet (03-01-2003 03:29 PM).] |

I just love this. I have done quite a few mermaid poems, and always wanted to work this aspect in. You did it so well. Three cheers. Sandra |

(big hugggssssss) Oh Cheryl, I LOVE Mermaids, they are my favorites and ever since I was a little boy, I have had a crush on them, since The Little Mermaid to the many paintings I see now! (kiss on cheek) This is gorgeous, sweet friend, God Bless You, I too wish I could vote for this, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Cheryl, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

This is a very beautiful poem! The whole thing...enchanting, just...wonderful! I'm in awe. In fact...would you mind terribly if I were to use this poem in school? I need a poem to analyse (for figures of speech, sound devices, etc.), and this one is perfect! That's what we, as heroes, do. We live as if the world were like it should be, to show the world what it could be. [This message has been edited by Amara (03-01-2003 04:04 PM).] |

ah, the mermaid. Both a product of human beauty and Nature's indifference. Nicely done. "I should have been a pair of ragged claws/ Scuttling over the floors of silent seas"-T.S. Eliot |

Hello Cheryl I simply adored this one and felt myself being swept away with the romance of your words. This should most definitely included in the book. Take care.......Sue I am in motion |

This is such a beautiful poem, I love the Ocean and all that surrounds it entity. Sometimes we have to follow a stronger voice, even if it's silent. |

I liked this piece. I am partial to tales of the sea and particularly the call of sirens and lorelei. They have called to me many times. This gets my vote for the book. The noblest battles are always fought in vain |

There's no romance like it... This is a lovely verse, Cheryl - Of course my experience is mostly with "Atlantic" pleasures... [This message has been edited by Nan (04-10-2003 08:16 AM).] |
