Your shadow
Darkens what I can’t see
Flower I am
Or should be

I stretch my stem
Searching to surface
From your stifling darkness
Reaching for purpose

Just when I think
I might break free
You say you are but a small shadow
The rest is what I don’t see

Blinking with confusion
I wonder if it could be
That what I seek freedom from
Is simply me

Thank you. I am not as unhappy as my writing might suggest. Merely reflecting on how sometimes we lie to ourselves, devouring every word like a dehydrated alcoholic.

(sigh) Yes!!! Freedom is not in finding solace in others, driving a car, or being out on your own, but simply appreciating and cherishing yourself and loving yourself and only then are we never living a lie!
