Winter’s Edge It’s cold, it’s brrrrr, but the sun is in its climb; in just a little while it will brighten up this time. We’ll play in the light of a promise of spring and be prompted, as well, with lovely chords, to sing. Though the water that spilled, beside the cats’ dish on the porch, froze instantly a-gleam old Sol now brings a torch. He’ll soften up the chill put smiles on each face, melt puddled, icy mirrors into sparkling, fancy lace. ©February 24, 2003 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

I am definitely ready for the spring. It won't come soon enough for me. |

Though we here in this part of N.CA. have been quite fortunate with no snow to speak of, nor, cold, freezing temps., I still appreciate this poem. I like: "melt puddled, icy mirrors into sparkling, fancy lace" Enjoyed, Pat ![]() ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Thanks, all! Sunshine, are we neighbors???? We've had the same kind of winter. Warm, for winter, one week, frigid the next. We've even had high 60's one day and below freezing the next. It's so topsy-turvy it causes me to think the impossible has been achieved by our enemies, the ability to control the weather in the land of one's foe. Oh, woe, sometimes. My crocuses were so absolutely beautiful and then yesterday, they were coated in crystallized dew. Today there is a coating of confectioner's sugar over all the land outside my windows.
