Once upon a midnight dream
A story came from days of old
A book to read beside a stream
And Oh! The story that it told.

Come swift to me, my wondrous knight
For I have loved thee oft and long
Thou takest me to promise bright
And then thou gifts me with a song
I wait in bowered hope for thee
And pray that thou may'st set me free.

I read on, this knightly tale
To see if love would win the day
Imagination in full sail
As I whiled the day away.

Come in the night where I await
Here within this scented bower
For tis for thee, I claim my fate
In the darkness of thine hour
Tho bound here to dark night unreal
I await - that we might feel.

Laughingly, I held the book
As I sat and read some more
In this sheltered, cosy nook
The tale to tell, of love's adore.

He comes, he comes! I hear him call
Tho by oath he holds another
I will win this night of all
I desire, and curse his brother,
His brother who hast bound me here
Without a love; without good cheer.

Shocked I read this tale of woe
That twisted deep against my hand
Sure that love alone would grow
And no revenge, or sadness stand.

I hear him come to plight his troth
To me alone this shallow night
And then in vengeance will my wroth
Be settest free and take full flight
His brother's curse shall be no more
As I compleat this deed of war.

Gasping now, I read along
Surely love would fill the page
The day grew short the sun was gone
I held the book in bitter rage
It was not love that called the knight
But something else and dark mayhap
I flung the book into the night
And sauntered home in story wrap.

That night alone in dreaming deep
I felt a call of knight in power
And planned revenge within my sleep
Trapped within my bitter bower.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Keth, this should be a "Reflection" submission...and I should be responding as Lady Ollyne, but I  am too tired to change names.
I loved  both parts.

Beloved one what can I say but this is utterly utterly fabulous. Its too bad of you darling one to write so well when you know I cannot write a word right now. One day I shall write again and you will weep with frustration that you cannot do so, but for now you leave me weeping, truly exquisite darling heart. Isn’t it a good job I love you so forgive you for being such a wonderful writer. And yes you knew I’d say that.  Is it dark, no I don’t think so maybe a hint but not as dark as it could have been.

When a poem is so good I read it and then read it again, I know I've found a keeper. *S* Excellent work, Keth!
