Breath of Purity (For Denise, Ruth and Nancy) We’ve come together here to be In company of our peers Among sweet friends of poetry We treasure through the years We met afar through word and phrase And came to know each heart In silent verses that amazed The ones so far apart And time was binding words to words And souls were intertwined Through voices that remained unheard Between the sculptured line But each one came to recognize The vestments that were worn And those who through our distant eyes In likeness were adorned From common seed and common earth We reached our branches wide And felt the power of common worth That harbored deep inside A leaf would shade the drying bark A limb would hold a limb A heart would hold another heart In shelter of the wind The purity of friendship’s breath Uplifted me today Please know you’ve soothed my inner depths When you have gone away Thank you for coming to my home Elizabeth Santos 2/25/03 |

Each line, a treasure, but this... And souls were intertwined Through voices that remained unheard Between the sculptured line A :keeper |

(smiles) Oh Elizabeth, this is gorgeous, sweet friend, I love it! (kiss on cheek) I'm so happy that you all got to see each other, yay, and may the song of friendship always sing in each others hearts just as you are a friend to every one of us, yay! God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Thank you for your hospitality and friendship, Elizabeth. You are a gracious host. The weekend with you, Nan and Ruth just went way too fast. As soon as I got home I made the Swedish Apple Pie for Rick. Half the pie is gone already (I helped!). Thanks for that great fuss-free recipe! Beautiful poem. I will put my copy with the others that I have from you. Thank you again for a lovely weekend! |

Thank you poet friends. It was a wonderfully warm gathering this weekend and could have included many other poets as well. I would like to thank Nan, Denise and our precious Hoot Owl for coming to visit. I'll never forget our candlelight dinner. our ride on "mirror-like asphalt", the gigantic silk flower and candle warehouse, where everyone disappeared into the rows of merchandise, Ruth,s scrabble abilities, talking to Pepper, Mysteria, lovely Lyra, Ellie and all the rain on top of snow, but the sunshine in our hearts, the fantastic meal we cooked together, the memories we made, the recognition of how far our friendships have come through the blue pages into the real world. Thank you all for commenting on this poem which I wrote for my 3 visitors. POetic wishes and hugs Liz |

Darn I miss all the fun, but I am sure glad you had a good time. I could smell the apple pie from here. |
