The following was written while subbing in a music class and listening to a video called The Rumor Weed. A Veggie Tales, film.

The Rumor Mill

the rumor mill
does not stay still
if powered by some words
words untrue
words unkind
words that are absurd

gossip, tattling, put downs,
words that spread lies
don't show respect, lead to regret,
can put tears in one's eyes

at Sunset School,
our first numbered rule,
most important of them all
to show respect
of self and others
and help us to stand tall

we will choose
to use kind words
that enourage and make us smile
not words that feed
the rumor mill
but words that reconcile
