“Let us beware, therefore, of assigning too narrow limits to the causes which produce the poetic exaltation of mind.” William Cullen Bryant September, 1870 Illustrated Library of World Poetry Leave the poet or dreamer of dream alone to write with mystic seam, alone to chance a love rehearsed in simple line of poetic verse. Ah, flight ~ thy soul takes wing into the night and comes to view the dawn of day when left to dream thy written say Sweet course this quill doth take, and speed my soul to a land of midnight’s shoal to a feel that within is real, ah, sweet course, thy quill doth take Shall my mind, then, be more enhanced should a lover of read not narrow this chance of what, in view, as eye perceives, would beckon me back and end thy leave. So if thou cares not for thy write, then pray bid me a fond good night, and I shall bid you a fond adieu, praying that God will see you through then I shall turn and lift up thy quill, and lend my heart to my gardens, still. |
