Saluting with misty eyes

0 posted 2003-04-04 03:45 PM

They buried him today
He looked so peaceful
Not like the way he died
Full of holes
Wondering why
He was a simple Soldier
Off to die for his country
He never got that chance
His enemy was from within
It was never expected
Who would have known
A comrade was more dangerous
Than the man he came to kill

This is written shortly before I am due to represent my Mrine Corps league detachment at a memorial service for Captain Sieffert, who was killed by his own troop in Kuwait. His home was just a few miles from here.

Imagine all the People living life in peace...
John Lennon

Now everyone is going to think that I truly AM tht arrogant that I have to applaud myself for my writing.

Actually, folks, she was checking the site on my computer, and forgot to change the name over... :0
