under the sheath
of a rosy fingered dawn
a crow cries out
into the silence
and is answered
with only a gaze
the killer
moves between the fog
cold hands writhe
fingertips
seduce the mist
he searches
for a burning light
or an open window
anything
to silence the blood
that beats
and burns
between his temples
a young woman sits
on the floor
cutting up lines
on her coffee table
counting the tips of fire
and fallen trails
from the candles that surround her
in the kitchen
a latch slips
and the door stands opened
a current crosses
flames shuffle
and greet the killer
outside
the crow cries out
into the silence
and is answered
by no one
