Puddle Dances Raindrops dance upon the pavement Pool together in low spots As still more drops make the plunge And immediately pop back upwards As if trying to regain their home in the clouds When the rain has ceased The air smells fresh and clean The pools of raindrops calm and smooth as glass Reflect the sky above Children make paper boats to set sail in these pools Laughing and splashing Till recalled home by motherly voices That gasp at the sight of wet clothes and muddy hands and faces Only to fall victiim to damp hugs and kisses.
