My men have fallen
for the love of their country.
We all should be proud.

They once put their lifes on the line to protct you.Is it too much to ask for a little protection from you now that they are no longer young and strong?

Navy - a long time ago my stepdad used to tell me:  Hey kid - you're still wet behind the ears . . .  well he was right . . . he had a lot of wisdom that man and he also told me one other thing that will stick with me for the rest of my life:

Yes, they try with all their might, pounding toward victory. The saddest part of all though is that so many are lost to accidents and or "friendly fire"...such a travesty, it does not bring less honor to those who died, but greater sorrow to those remaining, esp. the ones who mistakenly found them as the target.

Then, too, the madness that comes out of war, all kinds of madness...one's own troop member tossing grenades. So horrid! One would never expect to be up against such madness in one's own camp.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

a positive message we don't see here often enough.

This made my emotions about the whole thing conflict..which is what the whole subject does to me these days.

Yes, we must remember the sacrifice they made. But pride isn't the word I choose to use, and when speaking of PRIDE, no one should forget the LACK OF IT seen in the eyes of the thousands of scarred veterans of past wars, who often get little or no respect for the sacrifices they made.

I salute your compassion. The price these men and women pay is far too high.
