The Solstice Song By: Noah Eaton 3/21/03 Fires of the heavens Blend in the wings of a yellow-throated sparrow Backstroking in reverse through a misty morning rain Where the meadowlark waddles in the fountains Bubble bathing in epiphanies, promises, blessings, and estuaries Marauding the dusk for pearls for young souls Manzanilla rain plays the leaves in glockenspiel Lawn gnomes wear their maquillage And wear the lilacs for the inaugural tea party Shine in the solstice Soothsay all you want but there is only one soothsayer Shine in the solstice Tear away the tarpaulin and summon the kaleidoscope waiter With symbols more deep than Braille Worn around you like phylacteries You alone are the solstice minister… Caught free will Through a daffodil As she sung in her flowerbed An epic quodlibet Washed over by a vinaigrette of cotton rain So I offer my salaam And filled my pockets with saffron To nurture the empire in my garden Paying my tributary Testing my trial balloon to this illustrious day Provided is room and board through the hours With the Rose of Sharon this day is ours And we’ll catch the captain’s choice in purse seine… Shine in the solstice Soothsay all you want but there is only one soothsayer Shine in the solstice Tear away the tarpaulin and summon the kaleidoscope waiter You are a brother in-law of the sun A sister in-law of the moon You are a sibling of the summer… Take the birds and the bees, wear them like a hug-me-tight The morning mist is your humeral veil Let the waterfall grace you like a Humboldt current Care to share some raspberry cobbler with the nightingales? Fires of the heavens Blend in the wings of a yellow-throated sparrow Soaring against a Hinayanistic April rainbow Where a lumberjack is caught in a Dolly Varden Swinging at the darkness to let the sunbeam trespass Where Blue-Eyed Mary wears dolman sleeves And the pimpernel wears high heels and emerald scarves All this time Mother still follows demagoguery So blow a kiss to her majesty And wear her lilacs for her inaugural tea party Shine in the solstice Soothsay all you want but there is only one soothsayer Shine in the solstice Tear away the tarpaulin and summon the kaleidoscope waiter You are a brother in-law of the sun A sister in-law of the moon You are a sibling of the summer… Come, my child… I’ll show you colors you’ve never seen I’ll show you a moon ever so debonair I’ll show you the spring… "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." Thanks! The last photo is great too! Noah, I've saved this one pix and all on my hard drive, in case some little cyber ghost should try to capture it and make it disappear. |

Noah, I love this. Gosh, you have raised my spiritds and make me feel like I can fly. And the pictures are beautiful.... All this time Mother still follows demagoguery So blow a kiss to her majesty And wear her lilacs for her inaugural tea party Fabulous .... huggles, Marti Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts. Beautifully said poem my friend. I like the way you described the coming of spring. Cold hands means a warm heart |

Noah, sorry I'm so late reading this. It's absolutely breathtaking. It's so beautiful. Do you do the artwork yourself? It's so pretty. "Love makes the world go around" |
